Printmaking


Printmaking is a art that is transferred an image or design on a block, plate, stone, or screen.
I chose the culture Mexican and Japanese. my first artist is

Diego painted murals. his murals were really famous in chapingo, Cuernavaca, San Francisco, Detroit, and New York city. one of his famous mural MAN AT THE CROSSROAD, which had been up in NYC was destroyed by the Rockfeller family. Diego started drawing at the age of 10. After Diego died he got very famous.  
Jose Clemente Orozco
nov23 1883 - sept7 1949.
Jose painted murals. The trench, The destruction of the old order, Maternity, The strike, The trinity and the  banquet of the rich, are his famous murals. he started to draw at the academy of San Carlos. when he was 17 he lost his left hand in a laboratory accident. in 1997 he left Mexico and went to the U.S.
he came back to Mexico in the 1920's. 
 

HOKUSAI
oct31 1760 - may10 1849
Hokusai started painting at the age of 6
at 14 he became a woodcarver and at 18 he was accepted into Katsukawa Shunsho
His first prints were made in 1779 Three women, Waterfall, Still life, Boats in the moonlight are only some of his master pieces.
 

KUNISADA
his first known print date to the year 1807.
kunisada made 20,000-25,000 designs for woodblock prints during his lifetime. In his artwork he always has a person in it.
